 During a ceremony chaired by King Mohammed VI of Morocco at the Royal Palace in Rabat yesterday, Monday, New Motors revealed the model of the first locally made Moroccan car, and NamX company revealed the prototype of a hydrogen-powered vehicle developed by a Moroccan.

The two innovative projects are an opportunity to enhance the “Made in Morocco” brand and the Kingdom’s position as a competitive platform in the automotive industry.

The first Moroccan car for "New Motors"

This car was developed by New Motors, a company funded by Moroccan capital. The company also created an industrial unit in Ain Aouda (Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region), to manufacture cars destined for the local market and for export.

The company is expected to have an annual production capacity of 27,000 units, with a local integration rate of 65%, an expected total investment of 156 million dirhams ($15.4 million), and the creation of 580 job opportunities.

The first Moroccan car powered by hydrogen

NamX's hydrogen vehicle prototype dubbed the Hydrogen Utility Vehicle or HUV, was designed in partnership with the prestigious Italian design firm Pininfarina. Moroccan hands created the interior design of the Namex.

The HUV (Hydrogen Utility Vehicle) will be fueled with hydrogen via a central tank reinforced with six removable capsules, which will enable significant battery capacity and facilitate hydrogen charging within minutes.
