Beware of buying these phones (iPhone) after May
A series of iPhones will no longer receive any updates, and from May 2023 their software will stop updating even with security patches. This moment comes for all devices, and although Apple offers more support than Google on Android, iPhones, iPads, and iPods are also reaching the end of their useful lives.

Beware of buying these phones (iPhone) after May |
A few days ago, iOS 15.7.5 and iPadOS 15.7.5 updates just arrived, with patches for serious security flaws. Unless a major new issue appears, this will be the last version of iOS that hits the affected phones below.
In fact, they have not received the news of iOS 16, as we are talking about devices launched in 2014 in some cases, but they have received security fixes. As of May 2023, they are not expected to receive patches for vulnerabilities either and will therefore be easier to exploit.
These are the iPhones, iPads, and iPods that will no longer receive updates:
- iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus from 2015.
- iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus from 2016.
- iPhone SE (1st generation) from 2016.
- iPad Air 2 from 2014.
- iPad mini (4th generation) from 2015.
- iPod Touch 2019 (7th generation).
On the other hand, iOS 17 is expected to be released in June 2023, and leaks indicate that the iPhone X, 8, and 8 Plus will be left without the update when it is released a few months later.
Sometimes unsupported devices receive additional updates if there are bugs that pose a very high risk, but it depends on each case. In principle, Apple has finished its work with the above iPhones, iPads, and iPods, so avoid buying them.
